NOIDA twin murder: Parents under scanner

New Delhi: In a bid to lay hand on the real culprit of the mysterious twin-murder of Arushi (14) and Hemraj (45), servant of her house, Noida police have taken the dentist parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar to a secluded place for questioning. The contradicting and fluctuating statements given by Arushi's parents to police have brought them under the scanner. Though even after 96-hours of the murder the investigating agencies, including UP police special task force, are nowhere near solving the case.

The most intriguing part of the episode is the contradicting claims and revelations made by the NOIDA Police itself. Within no time after the killing of Arushi came to light, the police announced a cash reward for nabbing Hemraj, who was in great hurry projected as the main accused of the first murder. Here, police did not even fulfil the basic rules of investigation manuel. The police did not bother about doing a routine search of Talwar's house. Nor did the police ask the Talwar couple as why did they name Hemraj as the culprit of the murder.

Again, when the body of Hemraj was recovered, police threw the name of Vishnu Thapa, the erstwhile servant of Talwar family and a relative of Hemraj as the main accused. Then they arrested a person whose identity is not yet established as to whether he is Vishnu, as claimed by the police first, or Jeevan, a relative of Vishnu. Police have not even tried to clarify the identity of the person.

Unlike other murder cases, the things are getting more confusing as the investigation reaches deep. Though, the perpetrator of the crime would be brought to justice, if it happens at all, at a later stage, the Police are yet to recover the murder weapon, besides least to say about establishing the motive of murder. To add to bedlam are the post-mortem report and call records of Arushi and Hemraj's mobile phone numbers.

Post-mortem report says that Arushi would have been murdered on May 15 (Thursday) at around noon or even earlier. But, witnesses say that the ill-fortuned girl was in the school till 2.00 pm on that day. And, also, her call records tell that she talked to one of her friends at little after 9.00 pm on Thursday night. Obviously, either post-mortem report or the other side of evidences is erroneous.

Next, if Hemraj had been murdered before 6.00 am on May 16 (Friday), who did actually receive a call on his mobile a little after 6.00 am the same morning. The modus operandi of the crime suggests that the two might have been murdered at a very short interval of time.

Throats of both the victims were slit by a surgical instrument with precision of an expert. But, the police do not seem to have anything to reveal on this, except claiming, as SSP Noida did today A Satish Ganesh that the case would be solved soon.
